I believe their duties/responsibilities are limited when compared to what a typical seniority number holding LCA can perform. Regardless, not many others in the industry have hired LCA's who will hold a seniority number (such as a DEC). Pro sim instructors....that's another animal in itself.
Officially they are called FQS, Flight Qualified Supervisor.
But UPS crews refer to them as NURPs, Non Union Replacement Pilot.
