I was told for a FO the sign on bonus is $20,000 and is given lump sum after 60 days. That is separate from the Retention bonus. If you opt into the retention bonus you would get $5,000 additional for the first year paid in monthly increments. So that’s how they are saying first year $25K. Then year two if you are capt by then it would $50,000 total paid monthly increments. Or if you were still FO it would be $25,000 paid over 12 months.
As far as commitment the sign on bonus is 12 months
Which I think is super fair.
But the retention bonus is a 4 year commitment. If you flow to United it’s cancels the commitment. If you age out or medical out it also cancel the commitment.
That’s how it was explained to me. I hope that makes sense.
