This is true. We are seeing lots of wealthy retirees and also high-end professionals who can now work from home and would rather do it in a nicer climate than the NE or south.

The people leaving are regular workers and employers. It is a net loss of people, but real estate prices in desirable locations are not dropping. My values are up by over 1M$ on paper since 2020.

But workers and companies leaving is going to hurt sacramento in the long run... they can only tax retirees so much.
