I have a captain upgrade question for everyone.
In the new contract there is language pertaining to pilots who bid reserve as a strategy, allowing them to have no-fly lines if they are willing to upgrade to captain... (I think I got it right).
What prevents the airline from:
1)Offering an upgrade bonus that requires FOs to sign up in advance thereby finding out who wants to become captain
2)Prioritizing less reserve and more flight hours to those new FOs who want to upgrade quicker?
Considering the shortage of captains, wouldn't that be a creative solution? Just a curious question, I have yet much to learn about the operations of the airline.
