Commuting sucks, that is all.

Not sure how short staffed a base is if it has 60+ reserve lines. There are 30 reservists available there today according to FLICA. I certainly agree though, there aren't a lot of 1 and 2 day trips in LGA. Having said that, understandably most commuters want longer trips to limit the commutes. Everyone is different. Folks I work with at EWR bid back to backs to limit commutes.

I've successfully dropped and swapped for 4+ years now. You can't get rid of everything you might want to, but, there's a lot of flexibility.
Or...get in now, then all that happens and you're a lot more senior and have more flexibility !
Commuting in general sucks. Commuting to an outstation is a special type of hell.
LGA is super short staffed on the CA side. As a result they took all the LGA flying and spread it out to the other bases where CA staffing wasn't as short. The trips in LGA went from good (high credit 3-4-5 days commutable) to awful (1 day and 2 days low credit not commutale). I am not exaggerating for October out of 500+ pairings only 9 met the definition of multi day commutable. The FOs suffer too. Just ask how many of them are enjoying their trips at the moment. I don't understand how you can say the trips in LGA are good for commuters when they are not.
FOs sitting reserve is a systemwide issue as we have way more FOs than we have CAs. I don't see how this new TA entices someone to risk a failure when they are getting hired by LCC ULCC and mainline straight from the right seat. I guess we will see in the coming months since this TA is being sold by the Eboard so hard and will probably pass due to the union not even providing an economic comparison of the TA against our peers. People are voting blind.
I don't deny that our work rules in the regional industry are generally good but others have caught up and have better trip duty rigs not to mention higher pay even with our new TA.
You've successfully dropped trips and/or reserve as a CA the past 4+ years? That's unheard of besides the COVID flying stoppage. If you're talking about swapping trips with open time or trip trading that is not the same thing at all and kind of dishonest to paint the picture that we have scheduling flexibility. Other airlines allow Flica to function as it should. Trips are dropped automatically without input from scheduling.
