I find it rather funny that OTZ knows SWAPA asking rates when SWAPA membership doesn't know...
I think Alaska pilot group is establishing the floor with this. I read your entire agreement, and think you managed to improve your contract substantially in other areas. I think it was awful that you've spent so much time working under concessionary rules and "pilots are a dime a dozen" environment to think this is worthy of a yes vote, particularly in this pilot market. I do think it was a very good start, but not that it was quite worth a yes vote just yet.
I'm happy that you've got a snap-up clause, but the rates you've agreed to have set the floor rather low and those rates will be used against the rest of us. You can bang your heads against the wall, worry about global thermonuclear war, the market, the Second Coming, whatever... supply vs. demand ultimately rules no matter how much people try to hide it. Pilots aren't exactly a dime a dozen anymore and the barriers to entry are rather high. There is something to be said when Mesa starts their FO's at $100/hour, or when Envoy check airmen are making more than WB captains. I won't even go into rewarding the management for stonewalling you and dragging this out and you rewarding them by not requiring a full retro. That's also unfortunate.
Prediction? Alaska pilot group will pass this by 68-32.
