People got caught flat footed the last AE because many people didn’t but bids in for positions that were not directly offered on the AE, but opened up due to people bidding out leaving many new positions opened up. Most famously was DTW 350B being available for new hires possibly because eligible bidders just didn’t have it on their bid because those spots weren’t listed on the AE posting.

Basically, bid whatever you want to do. Maybe you’ll get it, maybe you won’t. In the end, as was said on another thread, you won’t get anything if you don’t bid for it, so take those shots.
