The cost associated with office space and moving pilots seems more relevant. My guess is that the research has long since been completed and this is the posturing that is required with the SSC prior to announcement.
The company says they want a mid continent 777 base in ORD or DEN and a 737 base in Florida… and they want it fully operated by summer of 23.
they want to see what impact a new base has on schedules in other bases. Pairing construction is everything but straight forward and adding MCO/TPA into the mix may jack up pairing quality in EWR, IAD or ORD - or anywhere else for that matter as they strive for a optimal global pairing solution.
