The simple fact of the matter is that you have to work to make money in this business. There's not mailbox money coming to you from your job. If its not sitting at home with my family its work. So if we have to go out and do it, you might as well enjoy it while your doing it and work with great people. SWA still has that going for it. I know all you sour grapes are going to say that the culture is dead, but its really not. Its different during negotiations for sure as the pilots are mad at management right now (for good reason). But by and large everyone you interact with while at work at SWA is pleasant and makes the job easy. Thats why people keep coming to fly here.
The closest thing to mailbox money at Delta is bidding weekday WB reserve over the winter. Yes you get guarantee only and have to go visit the sim for an hour every 90 days but you can go months without flying if that’s your thing.
