Boy...set off a bit of a fire storm. Totally not my intention and probably a lesson not to post on my mobile device while waiting for a table at a restaurant. Guess I should clarify a few things.
  • Fist and foremost, I definitely should have clarified that I was talking total comp and not just gross. I was not attempting to mislead but I can see how it is viewed, so if anyone was guided wrong, that's on me, take full responsibility, and I apologize. I can do better when I post to back things up.
  • I am of the mindset our contract lags, I completely agree that we have to work more than our peers, and that we start behind the curve. I am not trying to hand out any koolaid and those that know me here in real life, know I stand by that and my feelings towards the overall operation currently.
  • I do try to play the game with the cards I am dealt and make the best pay/schedule I can that works for me. Everyone is different.
  • I am a NO vote until we fix not just pay but a lot of other issues which are well discussed elsewhere such as LTD, STD, Training, etc..etc..etc.
  • I do know one particular fifth year FO that did gross well over $300K but yes, he worked his tail off! It is not me. If they want to chime in they can.
Since I started the melee I guess I should put my cards on the table. I will end 2022 with a gross (including perdiem just because that is how my spreadsheet is) of $281K and a total comp including NEC & PS of $336K (10 months on year 5 and two months on year 6). I will have worked (including any reserve that was not used) of approximately 175-180 days. I average 150+ TFP/mo, every month and had a few months well north of 200+ TFP. Those are my actual numbers unless something drastic happens in November and it is estimating my November at 140 TFP. I had crappy vacation weeks which I did fly over (there was a meltdown as usual) and that helped bring the numbers up, and the premium G-d's have been smiling as I fly a lot more than I ever envisioned of 10+ TFP days including a few four days that paid around 50 TFP's. I have been lucky with some net zero, some trading and ELITT for lower block, a few and far between giveaway of a nice turn, a covid pull, an occasional sick call because I was not fit to fly, some training pulls, etc. I am not in a cartel, nor do I work for the union (but am an ardent supporter and stood the line in Dallas a few months back). I do work hard(er) than I would like in the long term, but I have my reasons and it is not a long term play but a current strategy that works for what my family and I are trying to achieve.

Hope this helps, and again, apologies to anyone who felt my statement came across as insincere. We are a brother/sisterhood and I stand by you all, every day of the week and twice on sunday.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season. Safe flying.
