ALPA has offered TSA a program to efficiently and effectively identify pilots. This biometric-based program, known as CrewPASS (Crew Personnel Advanced Screening System), is an extension of the highly successful CASS program which electronically confirms the identity and employment status of pilots for jumpseat access. CrewPASS could be an equally important tool to improve security at airports and allow pilots to more easily navigate through secure areas. Unfortunately, TSA has yet to recognize the value of CrewPASS and continues to ignore Congress’ mandate to act."
