Example: my next rotation reports 15:55. Primary departs 6:15AM. Backup 13:00. I wakeup 12hrs prior to report. Come in day prior you say? I leave home 22hrs prior to report, spend $100, checkout at 11 or 12, and sit in airport 4-5 hours prior to report.
With PSC. Leave a 1300. Wait for 1.5 hours.
Improvements to reroute language, deadhead language, crew meals, you name it..peanuts compared to the QOL improvements of PSC in LOA 20-04.
Bid early sign in which means early release normally, commute in the night before, have more chances to get home vs last flight of the night, less stress, you are not “A day”commuter tired. Sure your out $60-$70 for a hotel room but that is the price for being a commuter voluntary or non voluntary. Grab one G/S and hotel cost are covered.
