Of course they will try to explain why they think it should stay disputed. But if you, and others, are not swayed and pick them up the pairing will leave the dispute process and eventually end up on a line. You will eventually get to have it the way you want it. The PSIT doesn't have the power to tell anyone how to fly if they don't want to follow their lead. You may learn something from the PSIT about your particular pairing or the big picture. You may know all that already. But the PSIT will definitely learn what one of the crewmembers is thinking. It may affect their building. They literally beg for more than the occasional "you suck" type of e-mail.

It is a pain for the PSIT guys to put pairings in for dispute. I believe they are doing it because they don't want to fly those types of trips either. Who else really looks out for your schedule other than the PSIT? I would not be so quick to dismiss the PSIT guys just because you don't currently talk to them. They are human and could choose to let a bunch turds start floating by if no one supports their work. Pairings often get fixed before they ever end up on a line or in open time.
Gunter-
I agree with you on this board 9 times out of 10 and I agree with you here. I'm not downplaying the PSITat all. They do good work, I've flown with them, jumpseated with them, picked their brains and I read all of their notes for every airframe, every month. It's our contract with regard to scheduling and the current process that artificially ties their hands and makes their job more difficult and less encompassing than it needs to be. We can all continue to complain about guys flying DPs right up until contract time or figure out how to make the process better. That's all.
