I can tell you what the current situation is, but it is obviously a fluid and constantly changing situation. The first 2 weeks of Indoc/Gen Subs is completed remotely using webex and a company provided EFB (iPad). Following the completion of your remote learning it’s off to Minneapolis to finish up Gen Subs and Systems. Plan on 3 weeks for that. After Systems you’re off to CAE in Eagan for procedure/sim training. EDV is currently finishing up the process of moving all of their procedure/sim training exclusively to CAE, so plan on switching hotels for that part. I’ve been here a few weeks now, and the director of training told us to plan on a 79 day training footprint from the start of indoc to being released to the line…assuming no retraining is needed in any areas. Also, we are allowed (and even encouraged) to travel home on weekends/holidays if we’re comfortable doing so. I’ve gone home every weekend so far and have still managed to do well on the first 2 exams. All travel to/from training events is positive space, so that’s a really great thing they offer. Classroom training is Mon-Fri from 8-5, but we have been told that we will have a long weekend for thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Training pay is your full monthly guarantee (75 hrs), and we are anticipating the TA being signed by the end of the month according to the presentation by the ALPA reps a couple weeks ago. Everyone in the training dept has been great in my opinion, and the instructors really do a great job of making themselves available by phone/email to help you with anything you need. I’m very happy so far with my decision to come here. It’s a lot of work outside of classroom hours, but it is definitely possible to go home on the weekends and still do well if you put the work in. Hope that helps.
