Been a number of years, but when I was at FSI TOL in 2008, I had zero say in the programs I was assigned. Being the only non IP SIC I eventually worked in about 5 different types, as was put through a full initial for each type (but didn't get the rating) I was given a type rating after a year and they were gonna type me in just about everything they had but I got picked up by a charter operator. In late 2009, that was a miracle.
I enjoyed it but it was more of a supplement program where you needed another way to build time as well. I learned a lot and was treated well, but you need to have a good work ethic and learn to read the client.
