I don’t think the issue is pay, because they are doing work for not a lot of extra pay especially when they could sit at home collecting a little less and doing nothing. I think the argument is it’s something not afforded to every pilot, but I could be wrong.
I’m not sure how long it has existed, but to my knowledge it started being used about 2 years ago.

I don't know what the ratio is for disability pay but my normal line months are built to 80ish. If disability is 50% that's 40 hours of pay. Obviously everyone's earning will vary over their preceding 12 months but wouldn't TLV which is 75-80 hours be a good guide? At 94.5 per month that's more than double, in fact it's 2.3625x. That can't be right, can it? Somebody help me with the math, I've thankfully never been on disability.
