Per a certain fleet manager…
-Keeping 772s longer than planned because of the earlier than planned retirements of the A332s.
-772s are paid for. Need them in service to generate revenue. AA needs all the revenue it can get to service debt. For now, cost of maintaining 772s is way cheaper than taking on new debt from a new WB order.
-After AA gets debt down, expect some sort of WB order. Likely a combination of 789/7810 to replace 772s. Wont be a 1:1 replacement… doesn’t expect 47 more 789/7810 but another small A321XLR order to go along with the 789/7810 to free up more of the current 788s to take up prior 772/789 routes.
-There have been conversations with other airlines and Boeing on offloading 772s to some cargo carriers and picking up used 773s. The company likes the economics of used 773s but only at a certain price. Those talks have stalled.
-Doesn’t expect 350s or 777X. Too expensive.
