Is this just heresay or did instructors actually refuse to train him? We all know the high school gossip here at the airlines. I could see an instructor calling in sick or swapping without actual knowledge of who the student was, another pilot saw it and reported it as "Not wanting to fly with him". If the guy is legit still on federal probation until 2044 than he shouldn't be employed as an airline pilot, but I'd like to know if pilots here are actually refusing to fly with him.
Also, obligatory mention that the FAA will continue to ground pilots for seeking help with mental health and medical issues, yet apparently have no problem giving a guy with a violent criminal background and 20 more years of probation an ATP. Way to go FAA, keep up the good work!
That is not hearsay. Multiple instructors and pilots have stated their intention to refuse to train or fly with the felon. The FA’s are speaking up as well.
