If they ever try to lower the pay back to what it was they will just run into the same problems with mass exodus. These higher pay rates at the regionals are exposing the lies of the past 20 to 30 years that they couldn’t afford to pay higher rates at the regional level . It was always a shell game when they used regionals for peasant labor . They can and will make billions in profits still while paying these higher rates . No one is going to fall for the old gag of going backwards to old regional pay . Like My good buddy Roger Daltrey sang , “we won’t get fooled again”.

The thing is they dont plan on going backwards. The current pay push at the regionals is to float the regionals because without the feed mainline would be crushed. They're throwing money at the regionals to buy time to replace the feed with mainline or to mold the wholly owned into mainline. Time will tell but I'd never plan on making a regional my endgame knowing how the industry is. The only job security in this industry is Seniority
