And this is why the recent fight against the United MEC and keeping TI out of ALPA National mattered. Pattern bargaining begins now, starting with a high bar. We (as an industry) came close to disaster with what UA's MEC tried to ratify.
Having said that, I hope FDX is filled with regret for the foot dragging and delay - market price is going up.
Keeping TI out of ALPA national has nothing to do with it. Two separate things. You could’ve had TI become president and the membership ratification still fail. ALPA presidents simply sign on the dotted line IF a TA is ratified. He has absolutely no power over individual contract negotiations, AIP turning into TA, MEC sending TAs to ratification vote, or the vote of a pilot group. He is just a bystander.
