I can't imagine that they really give two snoots about pilot attrition as long as the metal keeps moving. It's just the cost of doing business (cheaply). Heck, we lost something like 300 pilots this year and they hardly blinked. So maybe that leaves some kind of hostile takeover or merger where they are all out on the street before they are ready? I think that would certainly produce panic in this latte sipping batch of "leaders". But panic??? It's fine with me if they want to explore multiple small bases, after ALPA makes sure all is proper of course, but panic??? I don't get it.
Yup, panic is the exact word I would use. Once all three have contracts, attrition will only significantly increase, they have to find a way to retain pilots and attract pilots. This summer could be a disaster, especially with our new contract language. This industry is not survivable with 10-20 percent of your fleet idle for lack of pilots.
