Current snapshot has 160 unfilled Captain bids including a bunch of vacancies for IAH 737 CA. I imagine that the company has to fix reserve to get people to bid Captain. Especially when we have unfilled 756 CA slots and over 100 777 FO’s just in SFO! Looks like a steady stream of SFO 777 FO for the new hire classes.
Right now anyone that finished probation can fly Captain in any base except LAS and MCO. Plus in 2023 when we are getting 2.5 new planes a week and 2024 when we are getting 3 planes a week it’s just going to be a mess trying to fill Captain seats.
We need a solution for this. A new contract would help for sure.
There, fixed it for you. The company can open new bases from here to Tim-Buk-Tu but nothing changes with the unfilled Captain slots until there are drastic changes to reserve rules.
