I haven’t studied the numbers very closely since last year, but I believe someone hired at Delta today with 30 years left could be a widebody captain for the last four or five of them. And that isn’t factoring in any widebody growth.
That’s also not factoring in the nuances of contracts etc. A senior widebody FO could easily make the same amount of money as a junior widebody captain and have better trips/QOL while doing it. So why upgrade?
