American Airlines used to do wide body international, and they were damn good at it. Most of us who have been in this industry a while remember AA DC-10, A300, and 767 Luxury Liners flying all over the world.
But then they were taken over by US Air. US Air was a hodgepodge domestic/regional airline conglomeration that was scared of wide body international and never more than dipped their toes in it. And that brought us the "American" of today, which is AA in name only, like a little boy wearing his dad's old shoes.
And yet the LAA pilots gave Doug a standing ovation when he addressed them about the merger. Life must have been AAwesome over there. The land of milk & honey. Superior. Please repeat it 47 times.
