It would make you a far more rounded and appreciated member of whatever team you’d end up with. Jumping from your regional to JB to legacy (these days) is a wasted step and effort in between for all involved. You don’t learn 121 ops in the schoolhouse (thats where you learn the basics of the plane and jargon like 3585 which u memorize but never apply nor understand)…. You learn on the line as you get comfortable and actually know what’s going on at a deeper level, that takes experience which takes time in one place.
Good advice, I was always told get out of the regional airline as soon as you can. I don’t absolutely need to end up at a legacy, and I know JB would be better than my regional if the “hiring” does stop. But, yes I am aiming for a legacy, like most young pilots. The regional I am at currently is pretty good in general. With that being said, is the industry seeing regional pilots from the right seat hired at legacies, I’ve only heard of a few. To upgrade where I am at will take as long as a LLC/Major unfortunately.
