I also shake my head when I see the ops agent run down the jetway to ask for the FOB and then run up the jetway to input the numbers and then send out the numbers to run back down the jetway to make sure we got them. The program is DESIGNED, actually designed, to be run on an iPad. Why the ops agent doesn’t close the door walk down with the iPad and sit in the flight deck and push the numbers…..but that’s not the way we did in the -200…..a culture change is what is needed and that will never happen unless HQ moves to another state.
The best is SAN, where they put satellite terminals at the bottom of the jetways so the ops agent doesn't have to run back and forth. I mean it's a good idea, but just shows how lacking our tech infrastructure is that they have to resort to these tricks.
