Position/base bids seem to happen 3 times per year here.
The unfilled spots go to new hires I guess at any order of availability as the company seems fit. But here is where the FO effective March 2 position bid fell:

It seems plausible that you could hold realistic hope to hold ANC in the subsequent bid or two if you don’t get in class.
