Just because you drop to zero doesn’t mean you are obligated to then stay at zero. And as you do, your original trips can be picked up by someone who finds them preferable to theirs.

The preferable trips are not always premium trips (although yeah, that too), just ones that fit into your personal wants and needs better than the ones PBS spit out at you.
