What I am getting at is there is no apples to apples comparison. I am sure he got tax free for part of his deployment too, but the government sticks that tax break up your butt one nickel at a time. Any pay breaks or tax advantages you earn in the military are more than canceled out by the associated pain and suffering associated with it.
Despite what some have said above, the grass is greener at the airlines. Yes, I made great memories in the military, but I wouldn't trade what I am doing now for that crap sandwich in a second. It was a means to an end. I am at my destination now. Glad I did it. Wouldn't ever go back. Do your wings plus 8 and GTFO.
