I don’t think anyone here has a problem with FMLA use, even if it happen to “benefit” the person by getting rid of a crappy trip over a holiday (personally unsavory to me, but I digress).

the problem is two-fold,

1) said pilot was accused of picking up a premium pay trip within the footprint of the FMLA drop (is this even possible? I don’t know) … if this part is true, it needs to be changed in our contract to not allow this, or at least treat it like sick so you go to the back of the line

2) there is no easy way to verify the level of manipulation that is being done when the persons schedule is blocked from viewing. If I were NYC320A, I’d be taking a real close look at someone else getting an advantage by playing fast and loose with the interpretation/application of the contract.

if it’s a one-time “good deal” then that’s a different story.. but right now we don’t know what we don’t know.. that’s the rub
