That's changed a little... The last 200 or so new hires have averaged 34 years with a median of 31 years. On that trend, 31 would be right at the middle or just slightly below. There's typically a 50+ year in the classes lately that tends to increase the mean>median. Its getting pretty young.
I don’t disagree with what you are saying. It’s difficult to project as well. One class can be a younger class and the next can be a old class and another a normal mix.
My advice, plan for 70 to 80 percent be surprised if one’s seniority is higher because the age of the class is younger.
