It looks like AA took/is taking 12 787 deliveries from 2022/23. Are there any rumors about more vacancies for these planes, where they'll be based at? I'd imagine a fair number of 787 pilots will be retiring in the next 5 years as well.
They just ran a vacancy bid for next June and the 787 awards were minimal. Quite a few 777 spots though. I’m not sure what’s going on with 787 staffing. People have been saying we were “fat” on pilots for a couple years now but we’ve had a steady stream of retirements without any corresponding big vacancy awards. It’s pretty stagnant. Maybe the increased 787 domestic flying is reducing the required number of pilots on the fleet. Less augmented trips. Or the training department is still FUBAR’d. Who knows…
