What remains to be seen is how long, how deep, and what the eventual recovery looks like. Historically, regional airlines have tended to do better in recessions but whether this holds true again in 2023 is anyone's guess.
A recession is far from a sure thing. Soft landing more likely. What your seeing is the shrink to profitability created by the new pay rates.

Mesa losing AA. Republic canceling classes indefinitely. SkyWest doing the same (obviously further classes are cancelled if February is). The sudden, unexpected ups and downs of this industry are historic and to be expected your entire career. If you’re in it for the long haul- you’ll be ok. Someday you’ll have a class.
