Mesa losing AA. Republic canceling classes indefinitely. SkyWest doing the same (obviously further classes are cancelled if February is). The sudden, unexpected ups and downs of this industry are historic and to be expected your entire career. If you’re in it for the long haul- you’ll be ok. Someday you’ll have a class.

This seems like reaching too deep when the real root problem has been stated many times: we don’t have enough captains. We aren’t parking planes to shrink to profitability. We’re parking planes because we have a 20% smaller pilot group in one year’s span. SLC has a day this month with 73 reserve FOs on call because they don’t have captains to staff flying.

Look at the investor guidance just released by Delta and comments by United, they aren’t worried about demand dropping with the economy, they’re worried about the supply side.
