The only thing you should take from the mailer is using is as the bottom negotiating starting point from the company. They are already offering that above your current contract. They just raised the bar. Probably nowhere near high enough, but still, when the mediator comes and looks, they can’t offer less than the mailer.
And your union speaks for you, so no need to anything else than to send it unopened back to the company.
