Beating both top and bottom line estimates is a huge deal. It is an enormous help to our negotiations, which have recently come to a screeching halt because the DAL AIP would have further embarrassed our negotiating committee. Thank goodness the company didn’t accept whatever garbage offer was on the table prior, had they accepted we would have taken another 6 months to unfu*k that situation.
Listen to the CNBC interview, the last couple minutes he is asked specifically about the pilot contract, he implies (again) that Delta has done the heavy lifting and ours should be done soon, after the pilots finish their recalls and get another MEC Chairman in place. He’s absolutely and discreetly calling us out, He knows what’s going on in our union, and is probably as embarrassed about it as most of us are.
Like it or not, when United does well, we all do well. A new contract and then United Next will progress in growing our airline. I think SK knows this and is on board with it.
