40 in my class, we are in our second week. Half of the class including myself wears the SWAPA lanyard. Yeah the kool aid is being served and we choke it down. I chose Southwest because it his a lot of potential. The lack of contract is the big unknown. My hope is that if we stand strong we will get a good contract and because of the meltdown things will change operationally. If not I’m getting a free 737 type in a pretty nice training center. I don’t have seniority keeping me here.
I will say one thing, the company works hard to sell themselves and to try to keep the kult-ure alive, SWAPAon the other hand has made no attempt in communication or education which is disappointing. With so much at stake and 40 pilots starting a week you’d think they would be trying to educate the newbs.
We’ll see what happens, I’m hoping for the best and trying to keep a positive attitude. Have faith, us koolaid drinkers aren’t stupid.
