It has happened in the past year multiple times. It’s a bit of luck to get it, and things change quickly, so who knows going forward. Historically, LAX & SEA have not been new hire bases. There is a bid closing today, so very soon there will be a whole new list of open spots (NH spots can only go to unbid vacancies from the last bid). I would expect NYC to always have a ton of NH spots. However, there is a decent chance you can bid to SEA or LAX within your first year, possible even early in your first year.
Things are very fluid right now with the hiring pace, and Covid recovery. So it’s really hard to predict. Good luck.
The AE is out. NH's hired in 2023 got awards to every single domicile. Things can change rapidly from AE to AE, but for any CJO's wondering if they can get out to west coast, 73N and 320 both saw awards everywhere, even MSP on the 320. Good Luck.
