Bid EWR and try the drive for a while.
As a line holder at JFK, bidding one 3 or 4 day trip a week limited my driving commute and made it manageable. The drive is easy off peak hours (before 0600 and after 2100). Cross the Verrazano Bridge before 0600 or after 2100 and you are usually fine. Otherwise, you will battle NY and NJ traffic. Last day redeye returns suck, but the NJTP southbound traffic going home will be OK. Pick your poison.
The PHL-BOS commute (EMB190) used to be wide open, but I haven't checked loads lately.
If your car is at the airport, you'll NEVER miss your commute home...right?
