Also, in general if one is a Florida commuter, is it better from a commuting point of view to bid WB as a new hire assuming having specific days (ie weekends and holidays) is not important. I was looking at the trips and it looks like most of the WB trips a very commutable on both ends.

Plug = most junior person in a class.
WB will be significantly more commutable than any NB. As you alluded to you will be very junior on the WB so working most/every weekend and holiday. Although if you end up with a line you'll generally be able to get at least one weekend off a month, if not more just depending on how the trips work out on your schedule.
Current WB pilots would have a better gauge of how GS opportunities are.
