Also, in general if one is a Florida commuter, is it better from a commuting point of view to bid WB as a new hire assuming having specific days (ie weekends and holidays) is not important. I was looking at the trips and it looks like most of the WB trips a very commutable on both ends.

WB is more commutable than NB in general. Right now people in their first year are moving up the seniority list fast on the 765 in NYC. That will most likely slow at some point. GS generally are most available in categories that are most understaffed. Probably NYC anything will be fine for GS.
