Fellow United-ALPA Pilots,
Today, the UAL-MEC elected me to serve as your Master Chair in a unanimous 19-0 vote. Such an act of unity and compromise leaves me profoundly honored and grateful. I am also humbled to lead the United side of ALPA, whose many dedicated pilot-volunteers and staff represent and protect our careers and families.
January 31 marks the four year anniversary of the United Pilot Agreement's amendable date. As this dubious day comes and goes, the UAL-MEC will be in session finalizing direction to the Negotiating Committee. Soon thereafter, a comprehensive and aggressive proposal will be passed to the Company.
We've all heard of or witnessed United executives claiming they are ready to conclude negotiations toward an industry leading Agreement. This pilot has noted the increasing boldness and frequency of their assertions. We'll soon understand the extent of their sincerity. Your union will be prepared for what is learned.
