I made the personal decision (family, type of flying, co-workers, location, age, etc) that Allegiant is an excellent fit for me. I’m looking forward to a much needed improved contract, when it is achieved.
I think that Allegiant will grow on the backside of this. Despite the semantics by many of those "doomsday types" that frequent our forums and Facebook posts, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Ultimately, there are many of us who feel the same and have reached the same personal decision. Despite the best effort by some on this forum to label us as "un-hireables" with skeletons in the closet, we are at Allegiant by choice. It sounds like we've got a similar background, I was previously at a couple of legacy carriers and can say from experience that they all have their own unique problems. We will absolutely get a new contract here that pays us fairly with an increase in our QOL, there is no doubt in my mind. While we absolutely should prepare for a long fight, I don't foresee the company having a choice besides inking it sooner rather than later. Simply put, the share holders will not allow it and I think that will be reflected in tomorrow's earnings call. Despite the company venturing into the hotel waters, the airline is what makes their money. Even if they add 20 world class resorts down in Mexico, it will never replace the revenue that the flying does. With only 1 hotel coming online and up to 3 more rumored, I am not the slightest bit concerned. The Viva deal is concerning but this talk of cabotage and that they will steal our flying is comical. I trust our 2118 leadership has scope at the front of their mind at the table. Could it limit our flying into Mexico? Of course, but we are many moons away from seeing the full impact of this on our operation.
