There's some info available via search, but it's a big fragmented and possibly out of date (from what I've seen at least).

Anyone on here commute from the BOS area to EWR (or any other United base)? Is it a fairly easy commute, or very competitive? Looks like there are some options aside from just UAL as well.

Long story short, I'm from New England and the fam and I have moved back...no desire to move unless something life-changing forced us. I'm facing a long commute at my current job, and I'm still enough of a new hire to where changing jobs wouldn't be a huge loss. I considered AA, of course, but 737 at a small base (perhaps that's the bigger issue) seems very limiting for a 30+ year career going forward.

My thought is that a 1+10ish flight (or a 4ish hour drive if I really had to) to fly out of a relatively junior base may be manageable in terms of commutes (obviously driving to work is ideal). I'd like to hear better, though, from those who know. And I appreciate your time.

One last thing -- anything you wish you knew (contract etc) about UAL before deciding to start / stay? I've found that the devil is indeed in the details...
