I would feel very rude if I ever rode the JS on another airline then squatted my own when another pilot was trying to use it and I could hold the cabin.
I hope no retired or active employee expects me to ride the JS so they can sit in the back and watch movies and pound beers. They simply have no way to reciprocate to have that expectation of me.
I ride the JS as a courtesy for them because I like helping people get on, but don’t think I would ever squat on it in front of another pilot trying to ride the JS.
The other airline pilot does have a way to reciprocate when it’s my turn to ride on their airline so why would I hoard the JS?
This is ridiculous. If you have the jumpseat booked, then ride in the jumpseat. Squatting on the jumpseat when you could hold the cabin? What the **** are you talking about? Those offline jumpseaters can still list for the seat, and will simply flow to the cabin. The horror
If I have the jumpseat booked, I sit in it, unless the gate agent says there’s an open seat in the back.
If you want to ride in the back without having to be ‘forced’ to sit in the jumpseat, then nonrev.
But to whine and complain about having to sit in the seat THAT YOU BOOKED while nonrevs ‘watch movies and pound beers’ (which is BS anyway, as those nonrevs could be pilots commuting to work) is utterly ridiculous.
You seem really bent out of shape about the idea of having to actually sit in the jumpseat, when you’re the one who booked it. Don’t like the jumpseat? Don’t book it. It’s not a courtesy to others to actually ride the seat that you’re listed for, it’s the right thing to do, so as many people as possible can get on. If you want to exclusively sit in the back, then take your chances and list as a nonrev.
