The word “permission” isn’t even used anymore in reference to flight deck jumpseaters. The captain is responsible for verifying that they meet the proper requirements and possess the proper documentation, and nothing more.
I would recommend you go read the ALPA primer on jumpseating. Your union would beg to differ about the cockpit jumpseat.
