Slice what are you using IE or firefox? I'm using firefox and even when I click on the link you posted it takes me to the full article with graphs and all. There are no advertisements or anything to fill in.

Download all three, restart your computer and boot it up in safe mode. Usually just tap F8 prior to the windows screen then select safe mode with networking. Install those three apps then let them get their automatic updates. Run the applications and see what you find. It really sounds like you have a virus/adware/malware.
