LAX shows up in class drops more frequently. PHX takes guys anywhere from 6 mos to a year (as of now) to be awarded it during a vacancy run.
Any hope to hold a line on either plane in a west coast base in a reasonable time?

How are the reserve rules in general? Any flexibility on RAPs? What about time to at least hold LC reserve?
Reserve rules are ok. Of course, we want better, hence negotiations, hence lots of saltiness on here about AA. Some good, some bad, just like everywhere. You bid for your RAPs if you're on SC, awarded by seniority. You can usually get LC within 2 months of being on the line. You can also bid for RAPs as a LC guy voluntarily and if awarded, you get a little extra pay.
Appreciate your help. I know things are “do NOT come to American” right now but long term AA has bases where I have family and I do not want to commute.
Balance what you want and needs. AAL was my #1 and I love it. Sure, things need work and the contract needs to get better, but of course, no one wants to be on a bankruptcy contract. I bid reserve, live in base, and am gone on avg 6 nights a month. I'm still relatively junior, get the schedule I want, weekends off, etc. Avg 55ish hrs/mo. If you have any questions PM me. Good luck.
