This exact scenario happened on an AE last year, I think it was with the 765?? Anyways there were ~15 secondary positions created that were not on the original posting but they went to new hires not long after the AE closed.
Just think about it. Say a category like NYC 73NB is fully staffed, so they offer no positions on it on an AE. Then on that AE 75% of the pilots in that category bid out to other bases/fleets. You really think the company can’t use those vacated positions for new hires and has to just let the category implode until the next AE? That makes no sense.
I do believe this happened with DTW350 last year. There was an AE that had no openings but they couldn’t backfill and subsequently gave it to new hires. This was front of what was to come multiple AE’s of 330/350 to new hires.
Seems little complicated to figure out truly how many “unbid” positions are available to new hires. Even widgetseniority doesn’t really give a good answer
