We’ll know what Kirby’s plans really are in a few weeks once voting for the Delta TA is over. We’re currently expanding so fast that we can’t fill captain or WB FO vacancies, and the empty promises of an industry leading contract are quickly running out of steam. The company can either agree that the Delta TA is the new definition of industry leading and come to the table, or they can drag their feet, slow the expansion, postpone deliveries, and slow hiring to meet a sustainable level of growth where vacancies can be filled. The company isn’t going to sign a blank check and push it across the table, but they know that it will have to meet what’s in the Delta TA, without concessions at a minimum. Unless they provide significant incentives to upgrade or apply for instructor/LCA positions, the expansion plan is just a neat story.
